What is an account and how to create one?

2

Today, the Internet has become so tightly integrated into our lives that it is already very, very difficult to imagine a world without it. Hundreds, thousands of various sites filled with interesting information and content, social networks that allow you to connect with people around the world, e-mail – all this we use daily. But the use of these sites most often involves registration, after which you get your own account in the system.

Some dry definitions

The meaning of the word account will become clearer to you if you translate it into Russian. Translated from English account means an account or personal account. In other words, an account is a set of data reported to users of some electronic system. These include programs, websites, and even operating systems. The account stores all the user data necessary for authorization (login), which are entered during registration, and the user’s personal data. Moreover, accounts are most often mentioned in the context of the Internet. There it can be a personal page, personal account, data storage or game account – it all depends on what type of resources you have registered on.

Electronic passport, or Every site as a state

So, as we have already said, when registering on the site, you get your own account. So what is an account? Figuratively speaking, this is your passport within the site. In other words, the account includes all personal information written by you during registration. Most often, registration on the site is limited to entering a login, password and e-mail box, and this data set can also be called an account. In other cases, as in the same social networks, you will be asked to enter personal data that more fully reveals you as a person. In this case, the personal page on the social network will be your account.

Social networks, or My account – my rules

A little more detail is worth dwelling on social networks. Why on them? Yes, because most people who ask the question “what is an account" and have approximately begun to imagine what this word means, draw an analogy with social networks. In this case, they consider personal pages as an account, and in this they are right. Indeed, by registering on a social network site, we automatically receive a page in which we can indicate any of our data and write whatever our heart desires. Let’s take the same Odnoklassniki and VKontakte. You must have heard of these sites. Moreover, the majority is already registered on them. And you, for sure, have already filled in the columns with personal information, added photos, set an avatar, collected a collection of videos and music for yourself, and regularly please your friends with your or your favorite entries. And all this together is what is called an account. In other words, an account is your electronic life.

Can I have an account too?

If you’re wondering how to create an account, then you might be surprised to learn that you’ve already done it. Do you have an email box? Yes? Great, this is your account. Now remember all the sites on which you registered. And there you also have accounts. If you are just starting your acquaintance with the Internet, use our simple recommendations, they will make it easy to master the process of creating an account on any site. So, first of all, it is better to create an email account. After all, it is often necessary to specify it during registration, and it is there that the data necessary to complete the registration comes, but more on that later. In order to register your mailbox, you must perform the following set of actions:

  • Go to a site that provides e-mail services (Mail.ru, Yandex, Google and many others, there are hundreds of them on the Internet).
  • Click the "Register", "New Account" or "Create Account" button. In different systems, it is called differently, but the essence of the process does not change from this.
  • Create your own username and choose a password. Login is your personal identifier in the system, which is designed to enter the site and serves as a kind of intranet name. The password is required to protect your account from outside interference. It is these data that are key on all sites and are used for authentication.
  • Fill in personal data, such as your real name and surname (in the mailbox they will act as a signature to outgoing letters), year of birth and gender. Most often, these data are sufficient, and their completion is not mandatory. And then, no one will compare your data with a passport (with the exception of some specialized sites where the reliability of contacts plays a key role).
  • Select a security question and an answer for it. This will help you recover your account if you lose your password. Additionally, you can “attach” a mobile phone to the mail – this will only be a plus.
  • Enter the verification code from the picture, which will convince the system that you are really a real person, and not a program.

A similar registration system is the norm for most sites, with the only difference being that you will most likely be asked to enter your e-mail. But since you have it, the whole registration process will go smoothly – you are now experienced, right? In some cases, you will have to confirm the authenticity of the account by clicking on the link sent to the mailbox. Now you understand why email was our first registration site.

A little about account storage

An account, as you have seen, is a very important element of online life. One might even say a key element. This is due to the fact that the sites are now the sea and most of them require registration. So gradually you will have a bunch of different accounts, which are not so easy to remember. Try to keep in your head even a couple of dozen logins and passwords. However, there are several solutions that can make this task easier:

  • Similar logins and passwords for all sites (very dangerous);
  • Storing account data on the mailer server (an interesting option, but letters can be lost, and if you lose your mailbox, you lose all accounts);
  • Good old notebook, which should always be at hand;
  • Text file on PC hard drive;
  • Special programs for storing passwords. Perhaps this option is preferable – remembering one password is easier than dozens.

As you can see, there is nothing difficult in accounts and every beginner can master them. So feel free to take on the conquest of the Internet and do not be afraid – everything comes with experience.
